He is a professionally registered natural scientist, WISA fellow, and has been involved in the water industry since 1986 with 37 years of water treatment experience.

- BSc Hons Water Utilisation (University of Pretoria)
- Management Development Program (University of the Free State)
- DWS Class 5 Operator (Department of Water & Sanitation)
Charity Work
Proudly associated with the Carel du Toit Special School.
They focus on children who suffer from hearing loss and who have been fitted with cochlear implants or hearing aids from Grade R to Grade 3. It is the only school in the Free State that teaches spoken language to hearing-impaired learners with the aim to prepare them to cope and prosper in mainstream schools.
Koot Kruger, a director of AAS & a cochlear implant benefactor himself, serves on the Central Governing Body of the school as Vice Chairperson.
